News broke out last night, Disneyland officials have confirmed that The Haunted Mansion at New Orleans Square will be undergoing an extended refurbishment period, starting on January 21st, 2020. Generally The Haunted Mansion goes down for a couple weeks to remove the holiday overlay for Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” This year, however, the refurbishment period is set to last until March or April 2020.
The attraction celebrated its’ 50th anniversary this past summer. This beloved and iconic dark attraction first open its’ doors on August 9th, of 1969.
“Its a small world” will also be closed on January 7th, 2020, for the removal of their holiday overlay. The updates for that attraction will be interior and exterior, including new paint and refurbished mechanics.
The Haunted Mansion joins other big refurbishments also taking place for “Snow White’s Scary Adventures” and “Indiana Jones: Temple of the Forbidden Eye.” All of these rides are set to receive major improvements in 2020.
The last day to ride Haunted Mansion Holiday will be January 20th, 2020. No official confirmation has been announced on when this refurbishment will end.
