Super Nintendo World is just around the corner. To further prove this fact, Universal Studios Japan held a surprise presentation. Over the course of this announcement, Universal Studios revealed several key components that will comprise their new Super Nintendo World.
Universal made it very clear that we will see this park open in time for the 2020 Summer Olympics. In our eyes, this puts the opening mark sometime around June, 2020. Universal will provide further clarity on the opening date in February at a presentation happening in New York.
One of the biggest concepts that came out of this presentation was the idea of a Nintendo ‘Power Up Band’. This band is said to be interactive and even work with the counterpart mobile app that will be released for this land. Guests will be able to collect coins and interact with different elements throughout Super Nintendo World. This wristband looks to turn the park into a real life video game.
Power Up Bands will be available in the following themes: Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Toad, and Yoshi.
“We Are Born to Play” was released during this presentation. The music video combines the talents of Galantis and Charli XCX to create a catchy tune with stunning visuals of the land.
The music video shares deeper insight into what we can expect from the land. This video also gives our first glimpse at the Mario Kart ride vehicle. The video relies on computer generated imagery, but it is safe to assume that this is a look at the design of the ride vehicle.
Hype videos such as these tend to moderately over exaggerate the final guest experience. With that said, it is still fun to take a look at everything shared and begin our speculation. Let the hype begin!
Super Nintendo World will open at Universal Studios Hollywood next, followed by the Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Singapore. Stay tuned for further updates from the Theme Park Shark. We would love to know your thoughts on this.
