The free Disney Genie mobile service, and paid Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane options are launching this month at the Walt Disney World Resort.
The Disney Genie service will be available right in the My Disney Experience app beginning October 19, 2021.
This new service will add functionality to the official app that’ll help you get the most out of your day at the Walt Disney World theme parks.
The Disney Genie service itself is free, but you must pay $15 a day, per person, to unlock Disney Genie+, which gives you the ability to reserve Lightning Lane reservations for more than 40 attractions across the resort.
You can also purchase individual Lightning Lane reservations for select attractions, which are not included in the Disney Genie+ service. These include two rides from each theme park that are among the most popular.
Pricing for the select individual Lightning Lane reservations range from $7 to $15 each, with Expedition Everest as the least expensive and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance as the most expensive at launch.
The image below breaks down all of the attractions available in Disney Genie+ and the individual Lightning Lane ala carte options.
Lightning Lane is the new name for what were previously known as FastPass lines for attractions throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks.
Attractions will continue to offer a traditional standby queue. Some may only offer a virtual queue instead though, like right now at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
Keep in mind that many of the other helpful services from Disney Genie are available without purchase. These can help you manage your day in useful ways, such as:
- Reduce time in lines while keeping in mind your top picks
- Pace your day with experiences you’ll enjoy – and haven’t already done yet
- Build around your existing plans like dining reservations and Park Hopper preferences
Guests will be able to purchase Disney Genie+ directly through the app beginning October 19, 2021. You may also be able to purchase the service for all days of your visit when booking a Walt Disney World vacation package through the official website or travel agent.
You can see our previous guide to Disney Genie and Lightning Lane for information on the individual features.
Disney Genie service will come at a later date for Disneyland Resort, so stay tuned for future updates!
