Construction on the new Electric Umbrella quick service and MouseGear replacements continue, along with Guardians Coaster and Harmonious barges in a work wall-filled EPCOT.
EPCOT’s new entry courtyard is finally complete, with the new retro fountain, pavilion flags and greenery.
A new music loop recently debuted in this area as well, filling the park’s entrance with inspirational music for an optimistic future.
The Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is going on now, and guests are greeted by topiaries based on Disney’s Fantasia.
New ground stickers remind guests to keep their masks on when taking photos in guest areas. These can be found in front of most photo ops around the parks, including many of the event’s topiary displays.
It appears that work is being done on some of the pavement between the courtyard and Spaceship Earth. The small area is surrounded by plants.
The most obvious, and loudest construction work happening in the park right now, is in the center of Future World… soon to become World Celebration.
The former quick service location, Electric Umbrella, and the park’s former main gift shop, MouseGear, have had their interiors (and some of their exteriors) completely stripped.
New interior structures are being worked on now for their permanent replacements.
On the other side of the structure, as seen from World Showcase Plaza, we can see that part of the former MouseGear location has started to be enclosed.
From Future World East, soon to be renamed World Discovery, we can see work happening at the central breezeway between the old MouseGear and Electric Umbrella structures.
Heading to Future World West, soon to be World Nature, we can see that ALL of the other side of the former Innoventions area has been completely demolished.
A walkway of work walls, as seen below, are common when navigating from one part of the park to another.
To add a bit of fun to some of the walls, photo ops for the Flower & Garden Festival have been added, like this butterfly art background below.
At World Showcase Plaza, the central barge for Harmonious, EPCOT’s upcoming nighttime show, has been joined by 3 of the 4 planned support barges.
Crews have been working on the barges near daily, and could be seen in boats on this day, moving from barge to barge.
EPCOT is in bloom for the Flower & Garden Festival, with flower beds and gardens sprinkled around the park.
Festival merchandise featuring Figment and Orange Bird can be found in multiple gift shop locations.
During the event, which will run through July 5, 2021, you can purchase food and drinks from over 20 Outdoor Kitchens, which are mostly located around World Showcase.
Below are some of the returning favorites from Northern Bloom in the Canada Pavilion: Seared Scallops, Beef Tenderloin Tips, and Maple Popcorn Shake.
New offerings are also available for 2021, including the Froot Loops Shake at EPCOT Sunshine Griddle near Test Track.
Before we wrap up today’s photo report, let’s check in on the progress of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
Exterior work is being done on the roof, which is expected to hold solar panels once complete, as well as the future attraction’s main entrance.
That’s all for this update around EPCOT at Walt Disney World. Despite a lot of work going on around the front half of the park, Disney is doing a good job of integrating the festival and helping guests navigate the mess of work walls.
Stay tuned for more news and updates for all of the projects going on now, including more details on the Guardians of the Galaxy roller coaster, expected to open next year, and the Harmonious nighttime show, announced to open later this year.
