After more than a year of waiting, the gates have opened and the first guests have entered Disneyland Park.
Some guests have been waiting to park for hours, others were waiting in a socially distanced line since the wee hours of the morning at the Grand Californian, and as the sun rose over the resort everyone was lined up along the tram route.
The excitement was palpable as hundreds of guests queued for hours to be among the first members of the general public to experience the park for the first time in 13 months.
Cast Members and their guests have been able to explore the theme parks earlier this week, but this morning marks the first time regular guests can enter.
Disneyland Park was scheduled to open at 9:00 AM, but guests were let in through the entrance turnstiles about an hour early.
Emotions were high as the crowd made their way to Main Street, U.S.A.. Tears were shed as Cast Members waved and welcomed the screaming fans.
Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure is only open to California residents at this time, and all visitors must have both a park ticket and a park reservation.
The theme parks are operating at only 25% of their normal capacity at this time.
With restrictions on party size, 15-minute limit for indoor attractions, and social distancing guidelines, Disneyland Resort is operating with enhanced safety measures.
Masks are required for all guests 2-years and older. Learn more about Disneyland’s safety precautions here.
