Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Josh D’Amaro has called on California Governor Gavin Newsom, to allow Disneyland to reopen.
In a virtual press conference earlier this week, D’Amaro encouraged state and local officials to allow the theme park to resume operations and “to treat theme parks like you would other sectors”.
Last week, Newsom said that guidance for theme parks including Disneyland would be coming soon but no additional information has been announced since.
“The longer we wait, the more devastating the impact will be to the Orange County and Anaheim communities and to the tens of thousands of people who rely on us for employment.”
“With the right guidelines and our years of operations experience, I am confident that we can restart and get people back to work,” D’Amaro said.
Disneyland Resort in California remains the last state where Disney Parks are closed as Walt Disney World in Florida has been open since July. Hong Kong Disneyland Resort also reopened this week.
