Trader Sam is getting a new role as head of Lost and Found in a new scene for the ride’s conclusion at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

After being removed from the ride earlier this month as part of continuing updates and enhancements to the world-famous Jungle Cruise at Magic Kingdom, many have wondered what will be the fate of the Trader Sam character.

Today, Disney has announced that the ride’s finale at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Park will be updated with a new show scene based on the character’s namesake.

According to new story details, “Alberta Falls, proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd., has entrusted her longtime friend, Trader Sam, to manage the new Lost & Found location.”

But, Trader Sam instead decided to turn this new job into a business opportunity, adding a “gift shop” to the end of the attraction, featuring all of the lost goods.

The new scene appears to be filled with hidden references to various members of Disney’s Society of Explorers and Adventurers, or “SEA” for short. And all of these props should give the ride’s skippers plenty of ammunition for new jokes as well.

This scene update is part of ongoing changes to the attraction. The ride is expected to remain open as these updates are installed in the coming months.
