After being removed due to VelociCoaster construction two years ago, the T-Rex photo op has returned, but now with an old friend.
This morning was the first time in just over two years that guests at Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando could line up to have their photo taken with the T-Rex from Jurassic Park.
The photo op has returned after being removed due to construction related to Jurassic World VelociCoaster in 2019, although she’s found a new home on the other side of the land.
Rexy, as fans affectionately refer to her, can now be spotted just outside of the Thunder Falls Terrace restaurant, near the entrance to Jurassic Park when coming from Skull Island: Reign of Kong.
Longtime fans of the resort may remember that this replica cast from Stan Winston Studios originally appeared at Universal Studios Florida in the mid-1990s, shortly after the original film hit theaters.
Back then guests could line up to get their photo taken with the new movie star and as the Team Member would say “Cheese!”, the ferocious Tyrannosaurus figure would loudly roar. This would startle the guests, making for a quite memorable photo!
When moved to Islands of Adventure for the new theme park’s opening, Rexy was paired with the screen-used Jeep from Jurassic Park, as opposed to the other screen-used vehicle at the resort, the Ford Explorer.
Now, after more than 20 years, you can get your photo with Rexy AND the Ford Explorer when you visit Islands of Adventure, reunited after all these years.
And, if you’re looking for the Jeep, it can still be spotted with the Spinosaurus photo-op located on the other side of the land, closer to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter entrance.
