From tributes to defunct attractions to tie-ins to the film franchises, there are Easter eggs sprinkled all throughout the VelociCoaster queue and ride!

The Jurassic World VelociCoaster officially opens this week at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Coaster enthusiasts and Jurassic fans alike have been singing this new thrill ride’s praises, and with good reason.

In addition to the high caliber thrills, the new attraction is packed with plenty of eye candy to excite fans of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World films, as well as fans of the Universal Orlando theme park. Here are just some of the ways the new ride ties into the films, and the park’s history.

In the middle of the queue you’ll come across a set of shelves filled with various items used for training and maintaining the health of the raptors, as well as some books. One of the books is called “How the World Will End,” and was written by Ian Malcolm.

This book prop was created using the same image reference files as the new Jurassic World: Dominion film, which means we’re actually seeing it here at the VelociCoaster before it appears in the new movie next year!

Tying into the original Jurassic Park film, there’s a cup of water sitting in front of the windows that look into the ride’s second coaster launch. This cup appears to have permanent ripples in the water, a nod to when the T-Rex is approaching!

While you’re riding the coaster itself, (if you’re brave enough that is,) be on the lookout for the bag of “Dino Chow.” It can be seen underneath the track after the second inversion, (right before you see the raptor figures).

This bag of Dino Chow is just like the ones that used to be seen in the area when the Triceratops Encounter was here. That attraction opened with Islands of Adventure in 1999, but closed about a decade ago. Now we have a small part of it here at the VelociCoaster as a tribute.

Another attraction that was located here was the original Raptor Encounter. It had to be relocated to another area of the park to help make room for the VelociCoaster. To pay tribute to that original Raptor Encounter, you can spot a Team Member group photo in the preshow video in the queue!

There’s never a dull moment when waiting in line for the new Jurassic World VelociCoaster, because it’s filled with plenty of things to see and experience, including animatronic raptors, randomized animations in the windows and more. And the ride itself is like nothing else at the resort.

You can see more hidden things at the Jurassic World VelociCoaster in the video above! The new ride is now officially open at the Universal Orlando Resort.
