It’s been about a week since we posted our last update so we are back at Universal’s Islands Of Adventure to take a look at the progress on the rumored “Velocicoaster” in Jurassic Park. There has been a lot of activity on the construction site so let’s jump right in!
The first thing we noticed as we walked in is the second support added for the top hat element of the coaster. It’s really shaping up and you can now get an idea for how steep of a drop we are looking at.
The photos do not do this coaster justice; the steepness of the drop is going to be insane, especially over the water.
The top hat is undoubtedly taking shape here, and you can get an idea of how it is going to look! It looks as if it is going to bank and then drop. It shouldn’t be much longer for crews to complete the tallest element of the ride.
Remember the rebar supports that we theorized are for an electric fence around the coaster? They are taking shape now and are definitely for an electric fence of some type. Theming wise, this could look great!
A few of the pillars are still being formed, and should be complete soon.
Also, taking shape is the dive loop of the coaster, which is sure to be a unique element that will leave us wanting more. Can you tell I’m excited about this coaster?
Here’s an angle we haven’t looked at yet, this is from the Three Broomsticks restaurant in the Wizarding World. This angle gives you a good idea at just how close the coaster comes to Hogsmeade. The double helix looks impressive from all over the park.
Looking at the maintenance building, not much has changed other than the structure nearing the completion of the building enclosure.
Heading towards what is believed to be the entrance to the ride, we can see that some rockwork is being formed. Some have said that this almost looks to be in the shape of a dinosaur! Kind of interesting but we’ll have to wait to hear more.
Wrapping up, we noticed a few small details and new track pieces near what’s rumored to house a show scene of the coaster.
This coaster is sure to wow even the most veteran coaster enthusiasts. It’s really shaping up to possibly be the best thrill ride in Orlando.
We hope that you enjoyed this update and that you are excited with the construction progress. Be sure to let us know what you think of this coaster in the comments below.
