New concept art confirms construction in Universal CityWalk is for a larger Universal Studios Store, “Universal’s Premier Retail Experience.”
A new, large parcel was created over the past year by combining four former retail locations within Universal CityWalk Orlando. PiQ, Fresh Produce, Island Clothing Co. and Fossil closed a little over a year ago.
Now, Universal has added concept art along the work walls around the site, for what the final location will look once completed.
Referring to it as “Universal’s Premier Retail Experience,” this new larger Universal Studios Store will be in a piece of prime real estate, located between the entrance to CityWalk and Universal Studios Florida.
From concept art it appears that the new store will feature separate themed sections for different properties, including one for the Minions.
One of the pieces of concept also appears to show what could be a section devoted to Super Nintendo World merchandise.
A longstanding rumor has been that there could possibly be a Nintendo section in this revamped Universal Studios Store.
Construction on the new store is still continuing, with some exterior theming details starting to be installed in recent days.
Universal has not yet given an opening date for the new store.
While there has been some speculation for a new dining venue taking over its space, there has not been any confirmation for the future of the current Universal Studios Store in CityWalk Orlando, located between the Cowfish and Bigfire restaurants.
The current store has recently received new displays featuring classic Universal Studios Florida props and designs, which has led some to wonder if this location could remain for retail as a sort of classic Universal “tribute store.”
Stay tuned for more details on the new Universal Studios Store, and what the future holds for the older store, as we learn more in the coming weeks!
