Universal Orlando Resort announced this week that some of the characters which guests know and love will be part of the resort’s inaugural Running Universal Epic Character Race weekend in 2020.

This will be the first-ever Epic Character 5K and 10K races that will be taking place on February 1st and 2nd, 2020. That includes guests that are ages 5 and up to participate in the race surrounded by their favorite Universal characters.
Universal characters at the race will include:
- Illumination Entertainment’s “Minions” and “Despicable Me” franchises
- “Jurassic World” franchise, Blue the velociraptor with her Raptor handler
- DreamWorks Animation, Shrek and friends from the animated films
- The Autobots and Decepticons from the “Transformers” franchise
- And much more!
These characters will be available along the race path for photo-ops if runners need to take a quick break to rejuvenate in middle of the race. The race will take place at both parks for Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. A full course map will be released before the race dates, stay tuned!
Running Universal’s Epic Character Race for the weekend, as pricing starts out at $82 per person with tax and registration is now available to book. Runners can choose from multiple options including the 5K or 10K registration, VIP upgrades (includes special character meet-and-greet and post breakfast), and weekend package options available only for race participants. This also includes for runners to save on admission to Universal Orlando’s theme parks.
