A Whole New Sound is slated to debut in its entirety this September 6th, featuring re-imagined Disney classics from a variety of pop, pop-punk, and alternative musicians. This new addition to Disney’s long history of producing colorful artists’ renditions of classic Disney Songs, like the Disney Mania CDs of old, will feature a variety of artists all pitching in to produce an album aptly titled A Whole New Sound.
Tonight at 9 PM PST (12 AM EST), Disney will not only release a preview of this upcoming album on its official DisneyMusicVEVO YouTube channel, featuring New Found Glory’s “Part of Your World,” but will also allow fans to pre-add the album to their preferred music app including Apple Music and Spotify.
Originally sung by Jodie Foster in the 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid, the song Part of Your World has been a staple of Disney music from an era of animated musicals that many Disney fans young and old were raised on. While the original Alan Menken song consists of sweeping melodies that impart a sense of longing to the listener, New Found Glory’s pop-punk sound will bring an electrifying twist to this Disney Classic.
“In approaching this song, I sat with the lyrics and melodies for a while. I realized that to make people feel what Ariel’s feeling, we needed to match the energy of the music with the rebellious thoughts of the song, along with her hope for adventure,” New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert explained. “Our band’s biggest goal has always been to show and encourage young adults, the young at heart, and any person that has a dream but faces self-doubt that there is another world out there that will accept them for exactly who they are. To not be afraid to take the next step.”
Along with Part of Your World performed by New Found Glory, A Whole New Sound will feature twelve tracks from twelve different artists and bands eager to bring new life to these beloved classics.
