In an attempt to assist local communities and displaced families throughout the Los Angeles area in the wake of the destructive fires that razed whole neighborhoods to the ground, Comcast NBCUniversal recently announced that they would be donating ten million dollars to the Los Angeles community, including $2.5 million in funding to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles’ ReBUILD LA initiative, as their inaugural corporate partner.
Comcast NBCUniversal will also be making donations to organizations working amidst the community itself to provide both short- and long-term humanitarian aid, including organizations like the American Red Cross, the Entertainment Industry Foundation SoCal Fire Fund, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, and more.
“Our hearts go out to all who have been impacted by these devastating fires, including many in our Comcast NBCUniversal family,” said Brian L. Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast Corporation. “We extend our deep appreciation to the first responders for their tireless and courageous efforts and to our news teams, including NBC4 and KVEA, who are providing vital coverage during this time. We stand ready to support our employees and the broader Los Angeles community as we recover and rebuild from these tragic events.”
Comcast NBCUniversal employees are also seeing company outreach, as the corporation provides emergency financial funds, additional health and welfare benefits, temporary housing, and hotels at discounted rates to employees who have been affected by the most recent string of California wildfires. Grants are also being awarded to team members in need through the Comcast NBCUniverversal Employee Disaster Assistance Fund, as well as double-matching donations made to the fund by employees.
In the wake of the devastating fires that have ravaged the Los Angeles area, Comcast NBCUniversal is trying to maximize its financial impact in the area by providing for its employees during this state of emergency, as well as working with community leaders like the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity to maximize their impact in humanitarian aid and rebuilding efforts.
Theme Park Shark will continue to cover the contributions that Comcast NBCUniversal makes towards this community in need as more information becomes available during the recovery and rebuilding efforts.
