Disney and Pixar released the official trailer for Toy Story 5 on February 19, marking the first full look at the franchise’s fifth installment. The film is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
The trailer shows Woody, now sporting a poncho and a balding head, reuniting with Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the gang. The central conflict revolves around a smart tablet called Lilypad that threatens to replace traditional toys in Bonnie’s life. Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Forky, Slinky Dog, Hamm, and Trixie team up to confront the growing dominance of screens over playtime.
Returning and New Cast Members
Tom Hanks returns as Woody and Tim Allen returns as Buzz Lightyear. Joan Cusack, Blake Clark, and Tony Hale also reprise their roles. New additions to the voice cast include Greta Lee and Conan O’Brien.
Director and Creative Vision
Andrew Stanton, the Pixar veteran behind Finding Nemo and WALL-E, directs and co-writes the film. According to Variety, Stanton has described the story less as a traditional good-versus-evil showdown and more as an existential reckoning for toys facing obsolescence in a digital age.

The film follows the events of Toy Story 4 (2019), which ended with Woody choosing independence over life in Bonnie’s toy chest. Toy Story 5 arrives during a strong stretch for Pixar, following the more than $1.5 billion global box office run of Inside Out 2 in 2024 and ahead of the original feature Hoppers in March 2026. Woody also appeared in a Big Game commercial earlier this month as part of Disney Consumer Products’ blockbuster season push.
