D23 is hosting Spotlight Series: 55 Magical Years of Storytelling on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
The Walt Disney Archives program is at an original Opening Day landmark. It honors Walt Disney: 125 Years of Inspiration and the 55th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort.
Disney Legend Joe Rohde opens the night. The former Imagineer will talk about storytelling and his 40-year legacy with Walt Disney Imagineering.
Archivists and Imagineers then walk through the history of the Carousel of Progress. They’ll present newly acquired Archives treasures while the Carousel of Progress refurbishment is underway. Imagineers on the newest additions will “share a bit of the magic to come to the attraction.”
Every ticket includes a limited-release event pin with the classic Walt Disney World Resort logo.
Panel-only tickets are $59 plus a $3 processing fee. VIP tickets are $159 plus $3. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 28, 2026. The window is 10 a.m. PST / 1 p.m. EST for D23 Gold and General Members. A member can buy a ticket for themselves and up to three guests. Tickets are first-come, named, and non-transferable.
The panel is in the Ballroom of the Americas. Panel-only check-in starts at 5:15 p.m. at the second-floor registration desk. The program runs from 6 p.m. to about 7:30 p.m.
VIP check-in starts at 4:45 p.m. After the panel, VIP guests get a dessert reception at the West Rotunda from 8 to 9 p.m. The reception includes two character meet-and-greets and a coupon package from select Disney Springs partners. Fireworks viewing from the Contemporary runs from 9 p.m. to about 9:20 p.m.
Guests must be 13 or older. Anyone under 18 needs a ticketed parent or legal guardian. Parking isn’t on site. D23 says to park at the Transportation and Ticket Center. That lot is at 1180 Seven Seas Drive, Orlando, FL 32836. Take a bus or monorail to the resort.
Bring a D23 membership card, the event ticket, and ID. Unauthorized video or audio recording is prohibited during the presentation or screening.
