With only one house left to announce, Universal Orlando Resort has finally started making announcements on the other crucial half of the Halloween Horror Nights experience: the scare zones.
Scattered throughout the park in strategic locations, scare zones are themed areas swarming with actors whose entire job for the night is to scare the daylights out of you. Often violent, deranged, or decaying, the scare actors add a certain spooky something to the overall event, chasing hapless guests with chainsaws and providing prime jump scares in dense fog-drenched stretches of road.
Universal Orlando Resort has had five scare zones every year for the last several years, but only two of them have been announced so far.
The first, called Torture Faire, is a Renaissance faire gone horribly wrong, wrought with medieval torture, gore, and misery.
The second, titled Swamp of the Undead, seems self-explanatory on the surface. It takes place in what Universal’s social media describes as “backwaters Louisiana” where the dead have risen from the bog waters.
Both stand to be incredible, highly-themed scare zones that offer some premium frights, and with Universal Orlando Resort continuing to make their announcements via email newsletters and social media as they add these new offerings to their website, guests are on the edge of their seat waiting for the final few details of the spectacular event that is just around the corner.
What we can be sure about, as we wait for the remaining details of the event to be revealed, is that this year is shaping up to be a spectacular event. With only a few more crucial details to reveal before the start of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights season starting August 30th, 2024, Theme Park Shark will continue to monitor and report on updates regarding scare zones, foods, shows, and that elusive 10th house announcement.
