This month, Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its classic and beloved film, The Lion King, with plenty of Passholder perks featuring everyone’s favorite Pride Land characters!
From now until September 22nd, 2024, a new addition to the Passholder exclusive magnet series can be found at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Featuring Timon and Pumbaa, this magnet can be found at Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures and can be received by presenting a valid Annual Pass, linked MagicBand, MagicBand+, or Disney MagicMobile pass, as well as a government-issued ID. Guests are entitled to one magnet per passholder while supplies last!
Guests can also enjoy Passholder-exclusive treats themed to The Lion King in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary. This month’s featured treat is a Rafiki Wildberry and DOLE Whip Orange Float. Featuring wildberry syrup and Fanta Orange swirled into orange-flavored DOLE Whip, this treat is sure to cool you down from even the heat of the African Savanna… not that the Florida heat is much different, of course!
This treat can be found at the Trilo-Bites Snacks at Disney’s Animal Kingdom – and much like with the Annual Passholder magnets, guests must provide their proof of pass and government ID to purchase one of these delicious themed treats!
Rounding out the offerings this year is a limited-time Passholder Photo Op, located by the Discovery River between Africa and Asia, where a Disney Parks Photographer will help get you set up on the photo-op prop so you can get the shot of a lifetime! Overlaid with some of your favorite characters from The Lion King, this Magical Shot will be available from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM and, as you may have already guessed, will require guests to show proof of their annual pass and government ID.
In order to download the photo, guests will have to have the Disney PhotoPass Downloads Add-On Option linked to their Annual Pass, or will have to purchase this limited-time photo through the My Disney Experience app or the Walt Disney World website for an additional fee. Guests without the Disney Photopass Downloads Add-On Option can purchase this individual photo for 16.99 plus tax – or, if you want to take advantage of every Magic Shot opportunity in the park, the Digital Download option can be added on to any Annual Pass for a one-time fee of 99.00 plus tax. This option lasts for a full calendar year or until the Annual Pass expires, whichever comes first, and allows guests to download any and all pictures taken in-park to their personal devices.
Guests can also experience the other myriad of treats and opportunities that Walt Disney World is offering to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of this landmark film: treats like the You Follow Old Rafiki Cheesecake at the Harambe Market in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or new Lion King Merchandise from Island Mercantile can help you show off your Lion Pride this summer!
Meet Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa over at the Conservation Station where you can learn about the inhabitants of the Animal Kingdom and what Walt Disney World does to ensure that its animal attractions are safe, happy, healthy, and cared for year-round, or stop by The Animation Experience to learn how to draw characters from the classic film, hosted by a real Disney animator!
With so much to explore this season at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, there’s no shortage of ways to celebrate such a monumental milestone of a classic film that inspired a generation.
