In an homage to the interactive story-telling app-based games of yore, Universal has once again brought the horror into the palm of your hands with a new virtual experience that allows guests and fans to choose their own adventure and find out if they have Final Girl potential.
Featuring new interactive tidbits about Major Sweets: Candy Factory, Goblin’s Feast, and Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America, there are ten endings to this game, and while all ten can be easily explored, there are only three scenarios where you can survive the horrors that Universal has burdened your nightmares with.
With a tongue-in-cheek narration and some pretty silly options, this new experience is an addition to the long and beloved tradition of in-park virtual experiences that allow guests to experience Halloween Horror Nights in a unique digital way, from the in-park scavenger hunts with animated cutscenes and live action sequences that we’ve seen in the past, to the old Legendary Truth-styled interactive game that culminated in new lore, this app-based experience is a fun way to kill time in line, while waiting to walk through your favorite haunted house!
In addition to the Final Girl experience, guests can also check out Halloween Horror Nights trivia, with dedicated sections for both Universal Orlando Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights event, and the one in Hollywood – since there have so often been wildly different houses, scarezones, shows, and icons between the two.
While the choose-your-own adventure game was a little silly with its funny options and tongue-in-cheek humor, the trivia seems to be pretty substantial! With a spread of trivia questions from something as mainstream as “What was the first Halloween event called at Universal Orlando Resort?” to the more obscure “What was the first zodiac sign represented in the haunted house Dr. Oddfellow’s Twisted Origins?” the trivia pulls no punches, and you only have three strikes before they take you out.
With fifteen haunted facts to claw your way through, this trivia game featured by Universal and hosted by Satisfi Labs is short, but fun. At the end of the three wrong answers, or at the end of all fifteen questions – whichever comes first – you’re given a scoreboard to rank your knowledge of Halloween Horror Nights:
“(1-5) Correct – Fresh Meat. It’s time to actually attend the event for once.
(6-9) Correct – Scaredy Cat. You creep through houses with your eyes shut, don’t you?
(10-12) Correct – Ghoul Apprentice. So close, yet so far away.
(13-14) Correct – Fog Sniffer. One step away from becoming a true horror legend.
(15) Correct – Horror Prodigy. You’ve earned your place in the darkness.“
You can Choose Your Fate and Test Your Knowledge on their web app [here], or hunt it down yourself through the Universal Studios app!
How did you do? Were you consumed by your own nightmares, or did you earn your place in the darkness?
