Baron Tonton is back and better than ever for the 2025 season, with new Mardi Gras merchandise to help you party in style this year! With some of the most striking and colorful art Universal Studios produces for its merchandise, this year’s Mardi Gras designs are elegant, fun, and feature beloved characters and elements from years passed, as well as classic symbols of Mardi Gras that date back to Louisiana Culture hundreds of years old!
With so many new products available and even more theming and merchandise for sale within this year’s Mardi Gras Tribute Store – themed after the “whimsical and weird legends of the bayou” – Universal has transported you directly into the Louisiana swamp lands, where you can explore a curiosity shop, a swamp shack, and the marsh itself.
With this year’s designs featuring the bold traditional colors set against a rich purple, the official design of this year’s Mardi Gras is aesthetically pleasing and portrays a few of the Universal event’s biggest, most emblematic characters, like Baron Tonton – a new mascot used to celebrate the season throughout Universal Orlando Resort – and the ever-beloved King Gator, who has been a parade staple during the Mardi Gras event for years.
The design celebrates not only the elements that make Universal’s Mardi Gras event so unique, but the food, music, and culture that make the original Louisiana Mardi Gras such an enduring event in its own right.
Two ultra-colorful designs, this year featuring both Baron Tonton and the adorable King Gator, there’s plenty of eye-catching pizzazz to go around (and maybe even get you noticed by the beat throwers!). The Baron Ton Ton design is available on several products like apparel, accessories, and pins, and the King Gator design can be found on various products like ringer tees, silicon cups, and magnets!
Another fun design this year celebrates the culture and music of Mardi Gras with striking greens and purples against a black background, making everything pop just that much more! This design can be found on a variety of products too, including drinks, drink holders, keychains, and apparel.
Also on display this year is King Gator in all his scaly glory! Sure, Louisiana gators and Florida gators aren’t all that different, so he fits in right at home here in the Sunshine State! This beautiful King Gator design can be found on more than photo frames, though, and can be purchased on apparel, ornaments, badge reels, and a bottle opener for those really looking to party! Also returning this year is the King Gator Popcorn Bucket, featuring Gator Junior and a special commemorative stamp on his tail that marks this year as 30 years of Mardi Gras!
Little Gator Junior here also lights up, to make sure you get to enjoy every second with him even once the sun goes down over Universal Orlando Resort! Purchasing your commemorative popcorn buckets in-park usually comes with a free fill (and then discounted fills afterwards!) so be sure to ask your cashier about any potential popcorn perks that come along with this little guy!
Mardi Gras starts February 1st, and Theme Park Shark will be reporting on more of the details once the party really gets started! Check back for more information on the Tribute Store, Specialty Food and Beverage offerings, and any other special offers that Universal might be implementing to help celebrate thirty years of fun and flavor this year!
