An all-new summer spectacular is coming this year that will have movie buffs rushing into the park as iconic movies leap from the silver screen directly into the streets of Universal Studios Hollywood. Mega Movie Summer is a brand-new seasonal event designed to be the best day ever in L.A, offering guests one-of-a-kind experiences that redefine ‘summer.’ Starting Friday, June 13th and continuing all the way through Sunday, August 10th, Universal Studios Hollywood truly is creating the best summer ever.

Featuring new themed menu items curated by Universal Studios Hollywood Executive Chef Julia Thrash, who headlined the creative culinary experiences featured at Universal Hollywood’s Fan Fest Nights, Universal is making a splash with these new Jaws-inspired treats that will help you beat the summer heat! Nothing says summer quite like the beaches of Amity Island, and Chef Thrash has captured that vibe perfectly with the new Jaws-themed treats that will be featured this summer as Universal Studios celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original Summer Blockbuster.

Though it’s difficult to pinpoint the first instance of the term “summer blockbuster” being applies to the 1975 film that grossed over 260 million (1.5 billion in today’s money) during its original theatrical run. So it’s safe to say that the original Jaws film has cemented itself in the annals of history, which is why Universal Studios Hollywood is honoring this milestone year for the film as part of the Mega Movie Summer.

Jaws-inspired Bites at Hollywood & Dine

Amity Island Parfait, featuring light cake, cream, fresh blueberries, cake crumbles on top and berry syrup oozing into the layers, giving the whole cup a very freshly-chummed-water vibe. Weirdly appetizing! The star of the show though is the little Amity Island billboard, stylized after the vandalized billboard from the movie!

The Shark Fin Funnel Cake at Hollywood and Dine – A funnel cake topped with sweet blueberry compote, light and airy whipped cream, blue sanding sugar, and a shark fin! Dun dun! Dun dun dun dun! If you’re quick enough, you might even be able to take a bite out of it before it takes a bite out of you!

The Lobster Roll at Hollywood and Dine is the perfect summer lunch. Fresh and refreshing, this hoagie features creamy lobster salad with mayo, celery, lemon, and chives served on a toasted bun with a side of pub fries! The perfect lunch to bring to the beach while you watch hapless swimmers become someone else’s lunch!

The Amity Beach Lifesaver Donut from Hollywood and Dine, a simple vanilla glazed donut that looks like a lifesaver! It won’t help you, but good try!

Also available during this summer event is a Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Fish and Chicken Basket, Shark Bait Burger, The Shark Bite Cocktail, and the Amity Open Water Mocktail, all available in the Hollywood & Dine, which will transform into the Amity Island Cafe; find this fintastic snack spot just inside the park’s main entry gate, and grab a bite!

Back to the Future-inspired Treats at Mel’s Diner

And though Jaws is celebrating its milestone half a century of terrorizing beach-goers, it’s not the only classic Universal film getting the Hollywood treatment over at Universal Studios Hollywood this summer! Other beloved classics like Back to the Future will also be featured at this brand new summer event, with a hip themed drink to throw you right back to 1955!

Back to the Future, which is celebrating its 40th birthday this year as well, has some ginchy treats (yes, ginchy is a real slang word from the 50s, I promise I’m not just making things up) featured at the Universal Mega Movie Summer event. A tasty homage to one of the most iconic diner treats of the 50s, Universal is bringing the iconic Fan Fest Nights treat into the streets of Universal Studios Hollywood for this summer extravaganza. Originally featured as a specialty drink at the exclusive after-hours event that started running select nights in April, this drink will now be available during the daytime hours as well!

Check out the Time Traveler’s Milk Shake at Mel’s Diner, a vanilla ice cream shake with blue raspberry sauce and whipped cream, topped with blue and silver sprinkles, and the classic maraschino cherry to tie it all together in an far-out treat to share with the girl of your density.

Also available at Mel’s Diner are some of the other throwback treats from Universal Fan Fest Nights, like the Flux Capacitor Patty Melt, the Time Machine Pastrami Melt, Doc Brown’s Chicken Pot Pie, and the Outtatime Cookie, as well as two new drinks: the Flux Capacitor Mocktail, and the Wake Up Juice Cocktail.

Jurassic-sized Snacks at Jurassic Cafe

But don’t go too far back, or you might hit the Jurassic Era! Or, if you don’t have a time machine, you can head over to Jurassic Cafe for some prehistoric eats, like the Smoked Turkey Wing, served with fries and creamy coleslaw.

Or, if you’re looking for something different, try the Fried Fish Sandwich from the Jurassic Cafe, topped with creamy coleslaw and served with French fries! It’s a heart sandwich that’s sure to fill even a T-Rex sized appetite.

Also available at the Jurassic Cafe will be a sampling of new cocktails inspired by the upcoming Jurassic World film set to release in theaters on July 2nd, 2025: The Jurassic Water Rebirth and the Spicy Jurassic Pearadise. Be sure to visit fandango.com or stop by the Universal Cinema during your next visit to the park to secure your tickets for this larger-than-life film!

All this food and more will be available at Universal Hollywood’s Mega Movie Summer event, showcasing some of the most beloved Universal films of all time and inviting guests to step into the films.

That’s all for the sweets and treats available as part of this year’s Mega Movie Summer at Universal Studios Hollywood. Check back soon, as Theme Park Shark will continue to report on additional festivities that Universal Studios Hollywood has debuted for its best summer ever, as well as theme park news from Disney, Universal, and theme parks from all across the world!
