# Slinky Dog Dash Tips: The Best Time to Ride at Hollywood Studios (2026 Data)

The best time to ride Slinky Dog Dash is 9 PM. That’s it. That’s the answer.

During spring break 2026 (March 14 through April 5), the average wait at 9 PM was 50 minutes. At 11 AM, the same ride averaged 106 minutes. That’s a 56-minute difference, and it holds up day after day across three weeks of data from the Theme Park Shark wait time database.

Rope drop doesn’t save you here. Waits hit 85 minutes before 9 AM and climb steadily through the morning. If the plan is to rush Toy Story Land at park open, expect a long wait regardless. The data is pretty clear: Slinky Dog Dash is an evening ride.

## What You’re Getting Into

Slinky Dog Dash opened June 30, 2018, as the anchor attraction of Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios. It’s a family roller coaster, but don’t let “family” undersell it. The ride uses a launch system rather than a traditional lift hill, which gives it a punchy feel through its turns and drops.

– **Height requirement:** 38 inches (97 cm)
– **Single rider line:** Not available
– **Lightning Lane:** Available as Lightning Lane Multi Pass
– **On-ride photo:** No
– **Location:** Toy Story Land, Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World

## Spring Break 2026 Wait Times, Hour by Hour

This data covers March 14 through April 5, Eastern time.

| Time (ET) | Avg Wait |
|———–|———-|
| 8:00 AM | 85 min |
| 9:00 AM | 89 min |
| 10:00 AM | 105 min |
| 11:00 AM | 106 min (peak) |
| 12:00 PM | 103 min |
| 1:00 PM | 103 min |
| 2:00 PM | 100 min |
| 3:00 PM | 95 min |
| 4:00 PM | 86 min |
| 5:00 PM | 88 min |
| 6:00 PM | 86 min |
| 7:00 PM | 78 min |
| 8:00 PM | 61 min |
| 9:00 PM | 50 min (best) |

The peak window runs from 10 AM through 2 PM, where waits hold between 100 and 106 minutes. By 8 PM you’re looking at 61 minutes, and by 9 PM it’s down to 50.

Spring break average across the full period: 90 minutes. Single-day high: 140 minutes.

Best individual days from the data:
– March 26: 62-minute average
– March 24: 71-minute average
– March 22: 75-minute average

## Why Toy Story Land Gets So Jammed

Toy Story Land is a small area with a big footprint problem. There are only three attractions: Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Toy Story Mania. When thousands of guests funnel into a compact land with limited ride capacity, the math doesn’t work in anyone’s favor.

Slinky Dog Dash is the clear headliner, which means the majority of traffic in the land is pointed at one ride. The queue overflows into the walkways during peak hours, shade options are limited, and there’s no built-in pressure release valve.

By evening, the dynamic shifts. Families with young kids have typically headed back to the hotel. Anyone who rode it earlier has moved on. The crowds thin out across the whole land, and Slinky Dog Dash benefits directly.

## Lightning Lane Multi Pass Strategy

Slinky Dog Dash is available through Lightning Lane Multi Pass — included as part of the Multi Pass purchase, not a separate upcharge.

If you’re buying Multi Pass: book Slinky Dog Dash as your first selection of the day. It consistently books out for the best return windows by late morning. Grab it early for an afternoon or early evening return, then stack other Multi Pass rides in the meantime.

If you’re skipping Multi Pass: the evening strategy holds up on its own. A 50-minute wait at 9 PM is genuinely reasonable for one of the most popular rides at Hollywood Studios during spring break. Waiting until late costs nothing extra and gets solid results.

## How It Compares to Rise of the Resistance

Both rides are at Hollywood Studios, but they behave differently across the day.

Rise of the Resistance spring break 2026: average wait 78 minutes, single-day high 185 minutes.

Rise of the Resistance uses Lightning Lane Single Pass, not Multi Pass — a separate paid option. Its waits are generally lower than Slinky Dog Dash on an hourly basis, but its single-day ceiling is dramatically higher (185 minutes vs. 140 for Slinky).

For a full Hollywood Studios day: use Lightning Lane Single Pass for Rise of the Resistance if the budget allows, then ride Slinky Dog Dash standby at 9 PM. That combination handles the two biggest draws at the park without paying extra for both.

## 7 Tips

**Go at 9 PM.** Waits drop from 106 minutes at peak to 50 minutes by 9 PM. Nothing else changes the equation as much as timing.

**Avoid 10 AM to 2 PM.** This is when the land is the most congested and waits are at their highest. Use that time elsewhere and come back later.

**Book Multi Pass early if you’re using it.** Lightning Lane Multi Pass return windows get claimed fast. Check availability right at park open.

**Mid-week days are noticeably lighter.** March 26 (Wednesday) came in at 62-minute average during spring break. Weekdays in the middle of the week are the move.

**Bring sunscreen if visiting Toy Story Land mid-day.** The land has minimal shade. Standing in a 100-minute queue in full sun in March is rough.

**Don’t count on rope drop.** The 8 AM posted wait was already 85 minutes on average. Unlike some attractions where showing up at park open cuts wait times, Slinky Dog Dash is busy from the first minute.

**Check posted waits before committing.** On lighter days, afternoon waits can drop into the 60-70 minute range earlier than usual. The Disney app shows real-time posted times.

## FAQ

**What is the height requirement?**
38 inches (97 cm).

**Is there a single rider line?**
No. Everyone goes through standby or Lightning Lane.

**What type of Lightning Lane is available?**
Lightning Lane Multi Pass. It’s part of the Multi Pass product, not a separate upcharge.

**Is there an on-ride photo?**
No.

**What’s the best time to ride during spring break?**
9 PM. Average wait during spring break 2026 was 50 minutes at that hour, compared to 106 minutes at the 11 AM peak.

**What makes Toy Story Land so crowded?**
Three attractions in a small, sun-exposed area with Slinky Dog Dash as the clear headliner. Nowhere for the crowd to spread out.

**How does Slinky Dog Dash compare to Rise of the Resistance wait times?**
Rise averaged 78 minutes during spring break 2026 (lower than Slinky’s 90-minute average) but spiked to 185 minutes on its worst day. Slinky shows a more consistent evening improvement in the data.
