Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin returns to Magic Kingdom on April 8, 2026, recharged with upgrades to the ride vehicles, targets, blasters, and a brand-new character making their debut.
What’s New
The attraction has a new support bot named Buddy, stationed at Star Command, who walks guests through target practice before the mission launches. Buddy is framing the experience as training — new Star Command recruits are helping save the galaxy from the evil Emperor Zurg.

The upgrades include:
- Interactive targets that now light up and react when hit
- New handheld blasters featuring an always-on laser plus enhanced lighting, sound, and vibration effects
- New Disney PhotoPass memories featuring guest scores and rankings for the first time — meaning bragging rights are now on the record
- Enhanced ride vehicles with updated lighting and effects
Disney confirmed the April 8 opening date as part of a broader set of Walt Disney World attraction announcements tied to the upcoming Cool KIDS’ SUMMER season.
What to Know Before You Go
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is located in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. Standard park admission is required. The attraction was previously closed for its refurbishment. No separate ticket or reservation is required beyond standard theme park entry.
