Disney California Adventure is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a first-of-its-kind popcorn bucket: the Pixar Pal-A-Round Bucket, featuring new “Magic Inside” technology that makes the bucket react to locations throughout both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.
The bucket, which debuted on February 6, is modeled after the park’s iconic Pixar Pal-A-Round Ferris wheel and is priced at $50.99. It’s available while supplies last at select locations throughout California Adventure, including Fairfax Market, Mortimers Market, Popcorn at Grizzly Peak Airfield, and select outdoor vending carts.
How ‘Magic Inside’ Works
This is the first popcorn bucket to use Disney’s new “Magic Inside” technology. Similar to MagicBand+ interactivity, the bucket changes color and lighting patterns depending on your location in the parks. According to the Disney Parks Blog, the lighting effects “enhance the storytelling of some lands and attractions, as well as amplify select nighttime spectaculars with an extra touch of pixie dust.”
At home, the bucket still works as a light-up toy — pressing Mickey’s nose and spinning the wheel cycles through different lighting effects.
Pixar Characters on Every Gondola
The bucket features six swinging gondolas in purple, red, green, orange, blue, and yellow, each decorated with Pixar characters:
- Mr. Incredible and Mrs. Incredible (red)
- Heimlich and Flik from A Bug’s Life (green)
- Dug and Russell from Up (orange)
- Mike and Sulley from Monsters, Inc. (blue)
- WALL-E and EVE (purple)
The front of the bucket features a “pie-eyed” Mickey inside a starburst, and the navy strap showcases blueprint-style illustrations of other California Adventure attractions.
Part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration
The bucket is part of Disney California Adventure’s 25th anniversary celebration. The park originally opened on February 8, 2001. Other anniversary offerings include the return of Soarin’ Over California through July 1, new Mickey and Minnie outfits on Buena Vista Street, limited-edition merchandise, and a commemorative park map available on February 8.
Worth Grabbing This Weekend?
The bucket is available while supplies last, and demand has been high since its debut. If you’re planning a visit to the Disneyland Resort this weekend, this may be one to prioritize.
