Nintendo and Illumination debuted a new teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie during Super Bowl LX, giving fans another look at the highly anticipated sequel to 2023’s billion-dollar hit. The film arrives in theaters April 1, 2026.
The 30-second spot, titled “Level Up,” aired during the big game and is also available on Illumination’s official YouTube channel.
What the Super Bowl Teaser Reveals
The new footage gives fans their best look yet at Yoshi in action. The beloved dinosaur companion, teased at the end of the first film, is shown riding a motorcycle and using his signature tongue to devour Kamek (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) before popping him out as an egg. The spot also features Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) alongside baby versions of Mario and Luigi as they encounter a T. rex.
Star-Studded Cast Returns
Chris Pratt returns as the voice of Mario, joined by Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. New additions to the cast include Brie Larson as Rosalina, a princess from outer space, and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., who is out for revenge.
Box Office Expectations
The original Super Mario Bros. Movie grossed over $1.36 billion worldwide in 2023, making it one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time. With the sequel expanding the universe into the Galaxy setting and introducing fan-favorite characters like Yoshi and Rosalina, expectations are sky high for the April 1 release.
Super Nintendo World at Universal Parks
Mario fans who can not wait until April have plenty to experience right now at Universal’s theme parks. Universal’s Epic Universe, which opened in May 2025, features an entire Super Nintendo World with Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure, and Donkey Kong Mine-Cart Madness. Super Nintendo World areas also operate at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan.
