Nintendo and Illumination just dropped a 30-second Super Bowl LX teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it is absolutely packed with new footage. The sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1.36 billion worldwide, is set to hit theaters on April 1, 2026.

The teaser, titled “Level Up,” gives fans their best look yet at what’s coming. And the highlights? They’re wild.

Baby Mario, Dinosaurs, and… Egg Pooping?

The new footage introduces several fan-favorite characters in action. We see Yoshi riding a motorcycle (yes, really), Toad (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key) looking terrified as usual, and baby versions of Mario and Luigi running from a T. rex. But the real showstopper is Yoshi eating Kamek (Kevin Michael Richardson) whole and pooping him out as an egg. It’s exactly the kind of absurd, faithful-to-the-games humor that made the first film such a massive hit.

A Stacked Cast Heads to Space

The plot sends Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), and Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) to outer space, where they’ll encounter Rosalina, a princess from the cosmos voiced by Brie Larson. Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie) is out for revenge, and of course, Jack Black returns as Bowser.

Previous teasers had already revealed Rosalina, Bowser Jr., and Yoshi, who was teased at the very end of the first film. This Super Bowl spot brings them all together with new action sequences that hint at a much bigger adventure than the original.

The Full Cast

Here’s everyone confirmed for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie:

  • Chris Pratt as Mario
  • Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach
  • Charlie Day as Luigi
  • Jack Black as Bowser
  • Keegan-Michael Key as Toad
  • Brie Larson as Rosalina
  • Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.
  • Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek

Super Nintendo World Connection

For theme park fans, the timing of this sequel is perfect. Super Nintendo World at Universal’s Epic Universe is now open, bringing the Mushroom Kingdom to life with attractions like Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Yoshi’s Adventure, and Donkey Kong Mine-Cart Madness. With Yoshi playing a major role in the new film, expect even more excitement around the land’s Yoshi-themed ride.

The first film proved that Nintendo’s characters translate beautifully to the big screen. This sequel looks like it’s raising the stakes in every way, from the cosmic setting to the expanded cast to the sheer amount of fan service packed into just 30 seconds.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie arrives in theaters April 1, 2026, from Illumination, Nintendo, and Universal Pictures.
