LEGO Galaxy, the newest land at LEGOLAND California Resort, officially opens to the public on March 6, 2026. Theme Park Shark attended the preview night on March 5 for a first look at everything the area has to offer.
The centerpiece of the land is Galacticoaster, an indoor family coaster that reaches speeds up to 40 mph. It is the first new coaster at LEGOLAND California in roughly 20 years.

The Ride Experience
Before boarding Galacticoaster, guests enter a themed queue at Space Port 886. The queue features a fully animated LEGO astronaut figure that serves as the pre-show, briefing riders on their space mission. The animatronic is detailed and well done, setting the tone for the ride ahead.

One standout feature is the spacecraft customization station. Before boarding, each rider designs a spacecraft on a touchscreen, choosing the nose, wings, and tail. The ride then incorporates that custom ship into the experience.

The load station is fully themed with blue and orange lighting. Vehicles launch directly from the station into the dark ride portion of the attraction.

The Land
LEGO Galaxy brings a lot of kinetic energy to LEGOLAND California. Beyond Galacticoaster, the area includes G-Force Test Facility, DUPLO Launch and Land for younger guests, and Junior Astronaut Training Zone. There is plenty happening at every turn.
Dining options in the area include UFO (Ultimate Food Outlet), Stardust Treats, Satellite Bites, and Orbital Outpost. The Rocket Assembly Bay offers additional activities for guests exploring the land.
Characters from LEGO Galaxy were out meeting guests during the preview event, adding to the atmosphere of the area.

Shark Take
I had a lot of fun at LEGO Galaxy on March 5. The area has a great energy to it and there is a lot to take in. The Galacticoaster pre-show was really cool, and being able to customize your own ship before riding adds a personal touch that most coasters do not offer.
Some of the visual elements inside the ride felt familiar, but the overall experience still felt fresh and like its own thing. Having an indoor dark ride coaster at this scale is a significant addition. This is a great move for LEGOLAND California.
LEGO Galaxy is part of a combined $94 million investment by Merlin Entertainments across both LEGOLAND California and LEGOLAND Florida, which opened its version of the area on February 27, 2026.
