What We Know So Far
The series is being written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, who serves as showrunner. Mark Mylod will direct multiple episodes. Both are known for their work on Succession.
Executive producers include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts of Bront\u00eb Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films. The series is produced for HBO in association with Bront\u00eb Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
Each of Rowling’s seven books will be adapted into its own season. Season 1 covers Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone across eight episodes.
Why Theme Park Fans Should Care
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter remains one of the most popular themed lands in any park on the planet. Universal’s Wizarding World spans two lands at Universal Orlando, one at Universal Studios Hollywood, and the recently opened Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe.
A new HBO series generating massive mainstream attention for the Harry Potter IP is significant for theme parks. Renewed interest in the franchise historically drives attendance at Wizarding World attractions, and Universal has continued to invest heavily in Harry Potter experiences across its parks.
