Since single-night tickets went on sale on April 4th, fans of the Halloween Horror Nights event hosted at Universal Orlando Resort have been waiting patiently through the months for the chance to purchase the event’s most valuable product: multi-night tickets.
Offering a wide range of ticket options that allow guests to experience the screams all season long, from the first month of the event to every night offered, the multi-night tickets have seen a lot of changes in recent years, leaving some guests on the edge of their seat as Universal teased and revealed houses, experiences, and new ticketing options like the Premium Scream night being held ahead of the official opening of the event on August 30th, 2024.
But up until now, there’s been radio silence on multi-night tickets. In April, single-night tickets went on sale at an increase, starting at 83 dollars this season and going as high as 123 for select weekend nights in October. With this being an increase over last year, fans of the event have been silently anticipating an increase in multi-night tickets as well.
With Universal Orlando Resort finally putting all ticket options on the table for guests to purchase, it’s easy to see the prices creep upwards as the event gains popularity, notoriety, and strives to be bigger and better than the years preceding it.
While the Rush of Fear Pass, which gives guests access to the first 18 nights of the event, has remained the same with its starting price coming in at 179.99 plus tax, the Frequent Fear Pass, Frequent Fear Plus Pass, and the Ultimate Frequent Fear Pass have all increased in price this year.
Though the increases for these passes range from 10-20 dollars depending on the pass type you’re purchasing, these price increases come during an already hard-hitting economic downshift that has left both families and individuals struggling to purchase even the necessities, let alone an exorbitant experience such as a multi-night ticket for Halloween Horror Nights.
Extras for the event have also increased in price, with the RIP tour jumping by twenty dollars per person and the cheapest nights of Universal Express Pass for the event (ticketed separately from day admission Express Pass) jumping an additional thirty dollars for the cheapest nights.
A far cry from the original price of 12.95 per nightly ticket, the prices of Universal Orlando Resort’s premier Halloween Event have seen exponential growth in the last 33 years that many would argue match the exponential growth of the event itself. While the original event featured a single haunted house experience and a fraction of the theming that guests have come to know and love from Universal Orlando Resort’s creative team, the event has since expanded to ten haunted houses, five scare zones, and at least one show per year that enhance the Halloween Horror Nights experience to its truly scariest potential.
However, between the economic downshift that has already left people struggling, and the fact that Universal Studios Orlando has actually decreased its Halloween Horror Nights offerings over the last few years by removing several shows from the event lineup, including the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure, it seems like an interesting financial choice to further raise the price of the tickets despite not currently offering anything extra that justifies that choice. And while Universal Orlando is offering a six-month trial of the Peacock streaming service, this digital extra is not optional and often goes unused.
While Peacock streaming service is certainly an asset for the most hardcore Halloween Horror Nights fans, allowing them to stream some of the classic and modern horror films that have been featured throughout Halloween Horror Night’s legacy, the non-optional perk is not often viewed as a core perk of Halloween Horror Nights and is not received well by guests who are wary that free-trial digital services may predate on those who forget to cancel their trials.
Universal Orlando Resort continues to unveil information regarding this year’s Halloween Horror Nights event, including some of the recently announced scare zones, but with all ticketing options now available for purchase on the park’s website and less than two and a half months before the event begins, it’s no doubt that fans are eager to secure their tickets amid the final announcements for HHN 33.
