With so much park news coming out of Disney and Universal on both coasts, it can be easy to forget that Orlando and Hollywood aren’t the only major players, anymore. Earlier this year, Universal announced that its year-round horror experience, designed by the Orlando Halloween Horror Nights team, would be opening in the latter half of 2025, giving guests an opportunity to get a dose of fear no matter the time of year!
Universal’s houses have always been known for their intensity and the richness of their storytelling, and the houses featured at grand opening of Horror Unleashed are no exception. Get ready to step back in time as Universal Horror Unleashed transports guests to a depression-era farmland plagued by scarecrows in a terrifying original story: Scarecrow: The Reaping.
“Inspired by the historic Dust Bowl era when severe dust storms devastated the Midwest, this original story will take guests back in time to a dry, barren 1930s farmland ravaged by farmers and taken over by horrifying inhabitants arising from the land: bloodthirsty scarecrows bent on revenge. As guests start their journey in the middle of a windstorm before entering an abandoned farmhouse, they’ll encounter the monstrous and gigantic creatures made of remnants of dried human flesh and bones of beasts, merged with burlap, root and vine, with only one mission at hand – obtain vengeance for their ravaged land.”
This house originally debuted at the 2017 Orlando Event, for Halloween Horror Nights 27, to widespread acclaim, and would go on to win Orlando’s House of the Year award for that year. Housed in the Sprung Tent 1 location, this house was elaborate and thematic, combining the wide-open expanse of farmland with the claustrophobic hallways of a haunted house maze in an effortless manner that left guests screaming at every turn.
Scarecrow: The Reaping is one of four haunted houses returning from the annals of Halloween Horror Nights history to usher in this new experience, along with Exorcist: Believer (original run 2023), Universal Monsters (original run 2019), and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original Runs in 2016 and 2021). But these elaborate and terrifying haunted mazes aren’t the only thing guests will get to experience at Universal Horror Unleashed!
Universal has officially announced Jack’s Alley Bar, where guests can enjoy specialty foods and drinks – a staple of the Halloween Horror Nights experience, as each year features highly-themed snacks, bites, and brews that fit along with the year’s theme or tie into the house experiences themselves.

Jack’s Alley Bar will be a “circus-like hellscape” where guests will struggle to survive the maniacal Jack the Clown and his impish sidekick Chance as they navigate a carnival full of malicious jugglers, dancers, and fortune tellers that are all too happy to foretell your doom. Featuring interactive entertainment and engaging experiences that put guests at the center of a deranged and chaotic show, Jack’s Alley Bar will be equal parts themed food and entertainment, with plenty of opportunities to interact with this hellish cast of characters – if you’re brave enough.
Universal Horror Unleashed is planned to open August 14th in the Area15 District, the famed 40-acre immersive art and entertainment district and events destination that has found its home just off the Las Vegas strip. Tickets are now on sale, and can be purchased [here].
