Big news this week coming out of Walt Disney World! With Florida’s infamous hot weather already on the rise, Disney has announced that both of its premier water parks – Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach – will both be open starting May 21st, which only doubles the fun of these exceptional splash zones!
As part of this year’s Cool Kids Summer, Walt Disney World has set the date for the opening of Blizzard Beach, which will experience a brief closure from May 1st to May 20th to help prepare for the extended operational time. All in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Blizzard Beach, which Theme Park Shark has discussed in a previous post [here], Disney has reported that this will be the first time since 2019 that all six of its parks – all four main theme parks plus both water parks – will be open at the same time. With operations having changed drastically in the wake of the 2020 lock downs, guests can rejoice this year, and park hoppers can hop freely between all six parks just like the good old days.

Now’s the time to plan your play! Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach will be open in tandem from May 21st to September 7th, so guests can enjoy them to their heart’s content. Visit the melting ski resort of Blizzard Beach of get cast away into the tropical shipwreck of Typhoon Lagoon for some summer splash that will be sure to help you beat the heat. And better yet is that guests staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels can get admission to one of Disney’s water parks for absolutely free, valid only on the day of your check in, and automatically loaded into your My Disney Experience app.

But if Florida is a little too hot for you to sit out in the sun all day, consider checking out the after-hours event at Typhoon Lagoon called H2O Glow After Hours. This after-dark event takes place on select nights from May 23rd to September 13th, where families can enter after-hours to enjoy a cooler typhoon experience than ever before. Once the sun goes down, take advantage of those cooler temperatures with an illuminated dance party full of fun, complimentary snacks, and the beloved characters from Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story.
Guests can check out this exclusive, separately-ticketed event on Disney’s official page [here] for more information and general admission tickets.
Check back soon, as Theme Park Shark will continue to cover the Disney water parks and other theme park news from Disney, Universal, and theme parks from all across the world! In the meantime, make those water park plans and enjoy the cooler weather in Florida while you still can – it’s gonna be a hot one, this summer!
But then again, when isn’t it?
