Two churro creations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World grew out of a culinary competition. Chef Brad’s team developed a new cold brew drink and DOLE Whip sundae for the resort’s Churro-lympics.

Both entries won gold medals. The team worked together to combine familiar Disney favorites with unexpected flavors.
Where can you find the churro creations?
Churro-misu Cold Brew at Isle of Java takes its inspiration from tiramisu. Chef Brad’s team starts with sweetened Joffrey’s Cold Brew Coffee, adds mascarpone cream, and dusts the top with cocoa powder.

A crunchy churro finishes the drink.
The drink pairs the coffee’s richness with the churro’s sweetness. Disney suggests it as a way to start a rope-drop morning at the park.

The DOLE Whip Pineapple and Chili-Lime and Churro Sundae is available at Warung Outpost.
It combines DOLE Whip with chili-lime marinated pineapple and a warm cinnamon churro. The pineapple contributes sweet heat and acidity, while the churro supplies crunch.
Chef Brad said the team layered tropical flavors with Latin-inspired accents. Together, the ingredients balance sweet, tart, spicy, creamy, and crunchy elements.
He also said guests have enjoyed the pairing of the two Disney snacks. The cool sundae gives them something they can carry around the park on a hot day.
Inside the Churro-lympics
The competition took place in April. Culinary teams across Walt Disney World received a challenge: reimagine the classic Disney churro in creative, unexpected ways.

For Chef Brad, the goal was globally inspired flavors that reflected Animal Kingdom’s sense of discovery.
That creative work involved collaboration throughout his culinary team. They developed the concepts together, aiming for combinations that would surprise guests while fitting naturally within the park.

Chef Brad connects that approach to the regions represented at Animal Kingdom. He sees the park’s flavors and cuisines as part of the story his team tells through food.
He said introducing new, trendy dishes helps give returning guests different flavors to discover. Sharing those regional cuisines and the team’s creative vision matters for both cast members and guests.
