The announcements are rolling in, folks! This week has seen nonstop announcements for scarezones; Monday, we were given our first preview of scarezone themes with Origins of Horror; Tuesday, we were invited to a Vampire Masquerade! Today, we walk the winding path to terror with the newest scarezone announced across Universal Orlando Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights accounts on social media.
The Catlady of Crooked Lane invites guests to try their luck in a new, hair-raising scarezone . “Travel down a spooky winding path to a mysterious home, where trick-or-treaters are transformed into feral felines. Be careful or you’ll be next.”
Drawing upon the chilling urban legends of many a cul-de-sac over the years, The Catlady of Crooked Lane seems to be an homage to classic Halloween lore; the key art featuring jack-o-lanterns and black cats, as well as the mention of trick-or-treaters puts us in mind of the 2017 scarezone for Trick ‘r Treat, in which Central Park was decorated with traditional fall and Halloween decor, ornately decorated doorsteps, and plenty of kitschy Halloween flair based on the aesthetics of the beloved 2007 film.
While it’s highly unlikely that Sam will be making any appearances on Crooked Lane, the overall aesthetic present in the key art for this new scare zone offers us a great look at things to come. With equal potential for frights and fun, The Catlady of Crooked Lane looks like it’s going to be a scary good time, and an incredible addition to this year’s lineup.
