As DINOSAUR officially closed its doors forever at Disney’s Animal Kingdom — with the last ride for guests taking place on February 1, 2026 — one very special guest showed up the following day to say goodbye — Wallace Langham, the actor who brought Dr. Grant Seeker to life.
Langham, who appeared in the ride’s pre-show video and voiced the in-ride audio, visited the attraction for a private farewell with cast members. He even arrived in a lab coat, fully in character as the reckless paleontologist who hijacks the Time Rover to send guests hurtling back 65 million years in a desperate attempt to rescue an Iguanodon before the asteroid hits.
A Farewell 28 Years in the Making
DINOSAUR first opened in 1998 as Countdown to Extinction before being renamed in 2000. For nearly three decades, Dr. Seeker’s frantic voice guided millions of guests through one of Walt Disney World’s most intense dark rides. His pre-show alongside Dr. Helen Marsh (played by Phylicia Rashad) became iconic — the moment Seeker overrides the mission parameters is one of the most memorable setups in theme park history.
Photos from Langham’s visit were shared on the Rope Drop Humor Facebook group by Disney photographer Michael Huang, showing the actor posing with DINOSAUR cast members who had gathered for their own emotional farewell to the beloved attraction.
What’s Next
With DinoLand U.S.A. now closed, Disney will begin transforming the area into Tropical Americas, a brand-new land featuring an Encanto-themed attraction and a new version of the Indiana Jones Adventure ride — which will take over DINOSAUR’s building and track layout. The new land is expected to open in 2027.
While Tropical Americas promises to be incredible, today belongs to DINOSAUR and the people who made it special — including the man in the lab coat who always had a wilder plan than the one you signed up for.
Thank you, Dr. Seeker. It was one heck of a ride. 🦕
