The Voices of Liberty marked Presidents’ Day at EPCOT’s American Adventure pavilion with a special Echo Set performance, bringing two groups of the a cappella ensemble together for a moving finale that filled the pavilion’s rotunda, according to the Disney Parks Blog.
The resident a cappella group has performed in the American Adventure pavilion’s rotunda since October 1, 1982, delivering stirring renditions of American folk songs and patriotic anthems for millions of guests over more than four decades.
What Are the Echo Sets?
Offered on special patriotic occasions, the Voices of Liberty Echo Sets bring two full groups of performers together. Singers on both floors of the pavilion send their voices echoing throughout the decorated rotunda for a powerful finale that amplifies the experience beyond a standard performance.
For Presidents’ Day, the set list included “Golden Dream” and “This Land is Your Land.”
Veteran Cast Members Behind the Music
Among the performers is singer Aaron Stratton, who has been with the Voices of Liberty for more than a decade. Before joining the group in 2013, Stratton served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.
“When I first joined the group in 2013, my older brother was on a tour in Afghanistan. Certain songs would evoke strong emotions for me, reminding me how proud I was of him and of representing the U.S. in this role,” Stratton said.
Behind the scenes, entertainment technician Patrick Lienemann plays a vital role lighting the rotunda in red, white, and blue for the special performances. A veteran himself, Lienemann described the significance of the work.
“Being part of the tech team at EPCOT during America’s 250th celebration is incredible on its own, but for me, it goes even deeper. As a veteran, there’s something about it that really touches home. It makes you feel good, makes you feel remembered. And honestly, it’s magical,” Lienemann said.
Part of Disney Celebrates America
The performances tie into EPCOT’s broader programming this year. The Walt Disney Company recently announced Disney Celebrates America, a company-wide celebration commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States running through July 4. The initiative features special programming, storytelling, and experiences that honor the nation’s history across Disney Parks.
When to Catch the Echo Sets
Beyond Presidents’ Day, the Voices of Liberty Echo Sets will also perform on:
- Memorial Day
- Flag Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Veterans Day
The American Adventure pavilion continues to be one of EPCOT’s most meaningful experiences, and these performances add another reason to visit during your next trip to Walt Disney World. Whether it’s a holiday celebration or an unexpected moment of harmony, the World Showcase continues to deliver experiences that go beyond the rides.
