If you have ever wondered what secrets are buried beneath Big Thunder Mountain or how Dreamfinder first sparked a little purple dragon into existence, Disney Kingdoms has the answers. The six-series comic collection, published from 2014 through 2017, is now fully available on Marvel Unlimited, and D23 is pointing members straight to it.

What Is Disney Kingdoms?

Disney Kingdoms is a set of six limited comic book series, each inspired by a beloved Disney Parks attraction. Marvel published them between 2014 and 2017, turning familiar rides and legends into full storylines with original characters, villains, and mythology. They are aimed at readers of all ages, and they go deep on the lore behind attractions that most guests walk right past without a second thought.

The Six Series

Seekers of the Weird #1-5 by Brandon Seifert and Karl Moline pulls from an attraction concept Disney Legend and Imagineer Rolly Crump originally designed for Walt Disney in 1965. The Museum of the Weird never got built at any park, but this comic finally brings Crump’s strange world to life through two teens on a mission to rescue their kidnapped parents.

Figment #1-5 by Jim Zub and Filipe Andrade is a steampunk origin story revealing how Dreamfinder created his purple dragon from a single spark of inspiration. If you have ever ridden Journey Into Imagination at EPCOT and wanted to know more, this is where to start. A sequel, Figment 2 #1-5, picks up with Dreamfinder and Figment stranded more than 100 years out of their own time.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad #1-5 covers the full origin of Barnabas T. Bullion’s gold mine, long before the haunted legend took hold. Writers Dennis Hallum and Jon Adams build out the western mythology behind one of Disney Parks’ most iconic coasters.

The Haunted Mansion #1-5 by Joshua Williamson and Jorge Coelho digs into the 999 happy haunts and the mystery of the 1,000th. Classic Haunted Mansion territory, told in comic form for the first time through Marvel.

Enchanted Tiki Room #1-5 by Jon Adams and Horacio Domingues wraps the series with an isolated island of talking birds, singing plants, and ancient Tiki gods, tying the whole Disney Kingdoms lineup together in one final story.

How to Read Them

All six series are on Marvel Unlimited, which gives subscribers access to more than 30,000 digital comics. D23 Members get the first month for just $0.23 after a 7-day free trial (new and returning subscribers only; subsequent months at the standard $9.99/month rate). The offer runs through September 30, 2026.

Shark Take

Disney Kingdoms is one of those things that has flown under the radar for years, even among hardcore parks fans. The Figment series especially is genuinely good. If EPCOT’s Journey Into Imagination means anything to you, reading the Dreamfinder origin story in full-panel steampunk art form is worth it. Now that all six series are in one place on Marvel Unlimited, there is no reason not to dig in this weekend.
