The Disney Adventure cruise scheduled to depart from Singapore on May 7 has been cancelled. Passengers who had boarded the vessel were required to disembark on May 8 after the ship remained berthed at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre overnight. A Disney spokesperson confirmed that the voyage was halted because the crew was still addressing a mechanical issue. The Straits Times reported that the disembarkation announcement was made at around 2:30 pm on May 8.
Until the cancellation announcement was made, food service and entertainment, including scheduled performances, continued on the ship. The Disney Adventure is the eighth and largest vessel in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, capable of carrying up to 6,700 passengers across 20 decks and seven themed areas. The specific nature of the mechanical issue has not been disclosed.
Compensation and refunds
Disney Cruise Line has outlined a compensation package for affected guests. Passengers will receive a full refund for their booking, including unused portions of prepaid packages such as photography services and on-board Wi-Fi. Disney is also providing a one-night hotel stay in Singapore with transfer arrangements for affected guests.
The company will cover flight change fees for passengers who travelled from overseas. Each stateroom booked will receive up to US$500 to cover incidental costs incurred because of the cancellation. Affected guests will also receive a 50 per cent discount on a future cruise booking. The spokesperson said the team is working directly with guests to support their travel needs.
Next scheduled sailing
The next scheduled voyage for the Disney Adventure from Singapore is set to depart on May 11, according to The Straits Times. Disney Cruise Line had not announced a change to that sailing in the source report. The four-night cruise from Singapore to nowhere for two passengers is priced from US$1,430, with the fare including accommodation, access to performances and movie screenings, meals, and use of facilities such as the pool and kids’ club.
What to know
Guests affected by the May 8 cancellation should follow direct instructions from Disney Cruise Line and keep records for any eligible travel-related expenses. Guests with future Disney Adventure reservations should monitor official Disney Cruise Line communications for the latest sailing information.
The compensation package described in the source report applies to passengers affected by the cancelled May 7 departure. Disney has not publicly detailed the mechanical issue or announced how long repairs will take.
Shark Take: This is a major disruption for Disney Cruise Line’s Singapore rollout, especially because passengers had already boarded before the cancellation was announced. If you are booked on an upcoming Disney Adventure sailing, watch Disney Cruise Line’s direct updates closely before making any changes.
