Disney Cruise Line and the Port of San Diego announced April 23, 2026 that their homeport agreement will continue through at least 2031, a move both sides said will roughly double the number of Disney sailings from San Diego each year.

For cruise planners, that means more chances to book Disney departures to Catalina Island, Baja and the Mexican Riviera from Southern California, with both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder in the San Diego lineup for the 2026-2027 season.

The agreement

The new agreement gives Disney non-exclusive priority access to the Port’s North and South berths at the B Street cruise terminal. The Port of San Diego said the deal is expected to bring more than 1 million Disney passengers through the waterfront over the life of the agreement, marking the first time in more than 20 years that a cruise line has offered a minimum annual guarantee at the port.

Disney Cruise Line Vice President of Port Strategy, Development & Operations Jose Fernandez said San Diego has been an important part of the line’s West Coast operations for more than a decade. Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners Chair Ann Moore said the agreement supports both cruise operations and the regional visitor economy.

The ships

According to the announcement, the Disney Magic will arrive in October 2026 for three- to seven-night voyages through November before sailing a 14-night Panama Canal itinerary to Galveston. The Disney Wonder will homeport in San Diego from October 2026 through April 2027 with three- to seven-night itineraries that include Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada and Puerto Vallarta.

Why this matters

This deal keeps San Diego firmly in Disney Cruise Line’s West Coast plans through at least 2031 and gives travelers a longer runway to watch for seasonal itineraries without defaulting to Florida departures. If you are comparing West Coast cruise options for late 2026 or early 2027, pay close attention to which ship is sailing your preferred window because the Magic and Wonder will not cover the same dates.
