We’re in the thick of it now! Just four days after our last announcement at Spooky Empire, Halloween Horror Nights Orlando has announced another original HHN house, and it’s not the first time we’ve seen these hellions at the park! Hatchet & Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters was a concept first explored in Slaughter Sinema 2, a house featured in last year’s event. Now, Hatchet & Chains are back to clean this town up one hell-beast at a time.
Slaughter Sinema, which made its debut in 2018, was a huge hit with the fans. The house featured a collection of B-Horror films made manifest. With Universal Creative’s Halloween Horror Nights team wanting to explore concepts, aesthetics, characters, and the mechanics of scares that they didn’t yet have full concepts for, Slaughter Sinema was their playground – a sandbox for ideas, that eventually spawned the now-popular Yeti house franchise, including Yeti: Terror of the Yukon, and Yeti: Campground Kills.
When Slaughter Sinema 2 debuted at last year’s event, it was assumed by fans that guests would eventually be able to walk through one of the featured B-Horror films in full. Many made guesses as to what movie from Slaughter Sinema 2 would become a fully-realized house, but today Universal Orlando Resort settled the year-long debate and put speculation to rest with the announcement of Hatchet & Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters.
“In this Old West town, all hell is breaking loose. Red-hot lava demons are trying to possess everyone, melting everything in their path.”
This segment of the attraction at last year’s event proved wildly popular with die-hard HHN fans, and it’s no surprise that we’re seeing a resurgence of this concept in full-form.
This is now the second original-concept house that has been announced for this year’s HHN, coming after the announcement of El Artista: A Spanish Haunting at Orlando’s Spooky Empire convention late last week. While it’s not yet clear how many originals this year will feature, it’s certain to be a strong lineup.
