This week has been packed with announcements, with two new scarezones being announced at the beginning of the week and more to come, let’s take a look at the newest announcement from Halloween Horror Nights Orlando – the dark and enchanting Masquerade: Dance with Death.
Following the Conservatory theme that Universal Creatives announced earlier in the year, this dark Masquerade is going to be a candlelit nightmare that you can’t wake up from. Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is no stranger to opulence; even if you don’t consider the overall event to be an opulent affair, you need only to look as far as previous scarezones like Vanity Ball from 2019, or Blood Masquerade from 2006 -both killer scarezones that utilized the ballroom aesthetic and drove home a feeling of unhinged, whirlwind danger lurking on the streets as you try and navigate a high-society event gone wrong.
Expecting much the same from Masquerade: Dance with Death, Universal wastes no time in setting the stage for this dark and dangerous affair:
“You’re invited to a masquerade ball where bloodthirsty vampires lurk behind ornate disguises. When their masks fall, you’ll become their prey.”
This is the next chapter in Universal Orlando’s long-running tradition of vampire scarezones; from the beloved and energetic Vamp series like Vamp ’85 and Vamp ’69 to the first appearance of a vampire-infested scarezone with Blood Masquerade in 2006, vampires have been a popular horde and a staple of the event ever since.
