EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion is getting a meaningful refresh — and the Air Force veteran leading the work says it all comes down to one thing: the details.

Disney shared the story of Rosa, an Associate Project Manager with Walt Disney World’s Facility Asset Management (FAM) team, who is overseeing the ongoing refresh work inside the Norway Pavilion. Rosa joined Disney through the company’s “Heroes Work Here” veteran hiring initiative after serving 24 years in the United States Air Force.

More Than 200 Colors to Get It Right

Rosa’s team isn’t just touching up paint — they’re maintaining a look that’s meant to feel centuries old. Artisans and specialists working on the pavilion used more than 200 colors and stains to recreate the layered, lived-in appearance that makes Norway feel like a real place rather than a theme park backdrop.

Specific touches include authentic rockwork around the waterfall and paint details like subtle rust drips and aged finishes. “Every detail matters,” Rosa said of the work.

A New Kiosk Designed by Walt Disney Imagineering

As part of the refresh, guests will notice a new beverage kiosk in the pavilion designed by Walt Disney Imagineering. The kiosk is modeled after traditional Norwegian stabbur cabins — the kind of elevated wooden storage structures found throughout the Norwegian countryside — and was built to feel as authentic as the rest of the pavilion’s architecture.

The pavilion’s design takes guests on a visual journey across Norway: from the feel of urban Oslo, through Bergen and Haakon’s Hall, up into Setesdal mountain hamlets near the Stave Church, and into the quiet countryside of log buildings with sod roofs.

Frozen Ever After Gets Enhanced Audio-Animatronics

The refresh work also includes enhancements aboard Frozen Ever After. Guests will see newly enhanced Audio-Animatronics figures of their favorite characters, created by Walt Disney Imagineering as part of the broader effort to upgrade the pavilion experience.

From the Air Force to Disney’s FAM Team

Before her Disney career, Rosa completed a 24-year career in the United States Air Force, earning her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification along the way — a credential she continues to maintain in her current role.

Her connection to Disney came from a personal moment: a family trip to Disneyland where she watched her daughter experience the parks for the first time. That experience, she said, inspired her to want to help create those same moments for other families.

“In the military, everything you do trains you to lead and care for your team,” Rosa said. “FAM’s core values of ownership, value, and trust echo the military’s core values of service, excellence, and integrity. It was a perfect fit.”

Disney’s Facility Asset Management team includes almost 350 cast members across Walt Disney World who work behind the scenes to keep the attractions guests know and love looking their best.

The Norway Pavilion is open daily at EPCOT as part of the World Showcase. For tips on planning your visit, check out our guide to the best time to visit Walt Disney World in 2026.
