The Walt Disney Company honored Bob Iger with a Main Street window at Disneyland on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026. The ceremony was at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. Disney said it bestowed one of its most cherished honors on the former CEO.
The window sits above the Emporium entrance on Main Street, U.S.A. It names Iger as Chief Architect for New Century Builders. Disney said the window also carries descriptors of his leadership.
Iger spoke in Town Square on Main Street. He said he stood there with “a deep sense of wonder and humility and appreciation and gratitude.” He said he’d had the chance to work for the company Walt Disney founded. He then said he’d had the chance to run that company. He said he then had “the opportunity to be given this.”
“It’s just so special to me to stand here, Town Square, Main Street,” Iger said. He said he thought about the park “over 70 years ago.” He talked about the millions of people who have come through. He also talked about the thousands of cast members who have worked there. He said those cast members “contributed mightily to what this is.” He said he thought about the people named on the windows. He said he now stands “among them.”
“This is more than a dream come true,” he said. He added that he never could’ve dreamed this was possible.

The Sunday celebration included the Dapper Dans. They sang a Sherman Brothers song. Disney said the song speaks to Iger’s optimistic ethos and vision.

D’Amaro paid tribute at the event. He said Iger led Disney through some of the most important moments in company history. “He expanded Disney storytelling around the world,” D’Amaro said. He said Iger was “unrelenting in his focus on creativity and innovation.” He said Iger “honored our past while always keeping his eye on the future.”
D’Amaro also told a story from Disneyland’s 70th anniversary celebration. Before the gates opened, cast members gathered for a group photo with Iger. “They greeted him like a rock star, and that doesn’t happen by accident,” D’Amaro said. He said people feel connected to Iger. He said they know Iger loves Disney as much as they do. He said the Disney they love today exists because of Iger’s vision and leadership. He also pointed to Iger’s “deep respect for the people who bring this place to life.”

D’Amaro then thanked Iger. He thanked him for shaping the company. He thanked him for strengthening the bond people feel with Disney. He also thanked him for inspiring the people who carry that work forward.
Disney said a name on a Main Street, U.S.A. window is a tradition as old as Disneyland. When Walt Disney opened the park on July 17, 1955, names went on select windows. Disney said those names credited people who helped inspire and bring Disneyland to life. In the decades since, a window dedication has become one of the park’s highest distinctions. Disney said it’s reserved for people who’ve left a lasting mark on Disneyland and Disney.
Shark Take: Disney put Iger’s name above the Emporium in the park’s own window language. The company dated that custom to opening day in 1955.
