Theme Park Shark (“we,” “us,” or “the site”) operates themeparkshark.com, a theme park news website based in California, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at [email protected].
Information We Collect
We keep data collection simple. The site does not offer user accounts. Here is what we may collect:
- Information you give us directly. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. If you submit a news tip through our tip line, we collect whatever you choose to include, such as your name, contact information, photos, or the tip itself. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address, and content you submit with it.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers collect technical data when you visit. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring pages, and general location (such as city or region). This is collected through cookies and similar technologies described below.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as government ID numbers, financial account details, or precise geolocation.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The site uses cookies, pixels, and similar technologies. Some are set by us or our website platform (WordPress and Jetpack). Others are set by third parties, including our advertising and analytics partners. Cookies help us understand how the site is used, keep the site working, and allow our advertising partners to serve and measure ads.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work. Ad-related opt-out options are described in the sections below.
Advertising
The site is supported by advertising. We work with third-party advertising partners and networks, which currently include Google AdSense and Ezoic and may change over time. These partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this site and other websites. They use this information to serve ads that may be more relevant to you (often called interest-based or personalized advertising) and to measure ad performance.
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings.
You can learn more about interest-based advertising and opt out of participating companies at aboutads.info/choices (Digital Advertising Alliance) and optout.networkadvertising.org (Network Advertising Initiative).
Our advertising partners may act as independent controllers of the data they collect. We encourage you to review their privacy policies. If we join a different advertising network in the future, the same practices described in this section will apply to that partner.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are popular and how people find us. Google Analytics collects data through cookies and similar technologies, including your IP address and usage information. We use this data in aggregate to improve the site. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. We also use Google Search Console, which provides us aggregate search performance data and does not identify individual visitors to us.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address to send you the newsletter and related site updates. We do not sell newsletter email addresses. Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe at any time by emailing [email protected].
Tip Line
Readers may submit news tips to us. We use tip submissions to report news. We treat the identity of tipsters as confidential and do not publish a tipster’s name or contact information without permission. Please do not submit information you are not authorized to share. If you submit a tip, you can ask us to delete your contact information at any time.
Comments
If comments are enabled on an article, the name and comment you submit are displayed publicly. Your email address is not displayed. Comment data may be checked through automated spam detection services. Think before you post: comments are public.

How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in these situations:
- Service providers. Companies that help us run the site, such as our hosting provider, WordPress and Jetpack services, email newsletter provider, and spam protection tools.
- Advertising and analytics partners. As described above, these partners collect data directly through cookies on the site. Under California law, this may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. See the California section below for your opt-out rights.
- Legal reasons. If required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of the site or others.
- Business transfers. If the site is sold or transferred, information may transfer as part of that transaction. We would notify you of any material change to this policy.
Your Privacy Choices (California Residents)
Theme Park Shark is operated from California. If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you these rights:
- Right to know. You can ask what personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties we share it with.
- Right to delete. You can ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct. You can ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. However, cookies used by our advertising partners may constitute “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You have the right to opt out of this sharing.
- Right to non-discrimination. We will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
How to opt out of sharing: You can opt out of cookie-based sharing in any of these ways:
- Use the ad-industry opt-out tools linked in the Advertising section above
- Turn on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser or through a browser extension. We honor GPC signals as a valid opt-out of sharing where required by law.
- Email us at [email protected] with the subject line “Your Privacy Choices”
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will verify your request using the email address you contact us from and any information reasonably needed to confirm your identity. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we may ask for proof of authorization. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.
In the last 12 months, we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as email address and IP address), internet activity (such as pages viewed), and general location data. We collect them from you directly and automatically through the site. We disclose them to the service providers and advertising partners described above.
Visitors From the European Economic Area and UK
If you visit from the EEA or UK, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR apply to our processing of your personal data. Our legal bases are:
- Consent, for the newsletter and, where required, for advertising and analytics cookies
- Legitimate interests, for operating and securing the site, publishing news, and measuring aggregate site performance
- Legal obligation, where we must retain or disclose data under applicable law
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. The site is operated from the United States, so your data is processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
Data Retention
We keep newsletter email addresses until you unsubscribe. We keep tip submissions as long as needed for reporting and record-keeping. Comments remain published unless removed. Analytics and advertising data is retained according to our partners’ policies. We delete or anonymize personal information when it is no longer needed.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including HTTPS across the site and access limits on stored data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
The site is a general-audience news site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Links to Other Sites
Articles may link to other websites, including official park and company sites and, in the future, affiliate partner sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. Review their policies when you visit them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be noted on this page. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
