The run-up season to Halloween Horror Nights is always filled with news, announcements, sneak peeks, and new content released by Universal’s creative team. And after thirty-three years of HHN, guests generally feel that they know what to expect. The standard template in recent years sees ten houses, five scarezones, and one or two shows depending on availability. This year, though, plenty of guests are already beginning to see the changes taking place within the structure of Halloween Horror Nights, as Universal announces two ‘street experiences’ that don’t seem to fit the mold of the tried and true scare zones we already know.

Theme Park Shark has covered the previous scare zone announcements: Origins of Horror, Masquerade: Dance with Death, The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane, and Mutations: Toxic Twenties were all released earlier this month along with key art and short descriptions. Four out of five scare zones were announced before Universal’s official social media dropped the bomb: a fifth scare zone has not been announced; instead, we have been given sneak peeks at two brand new street experiences.

Mel’s Die-In, a popular gag that has been present at Halloween Horror Nights for as long as anyone can remember, has always been a beloved staple of the ambiance of HHN events throughout the years. This year, the 50’s diner turned evil will be seeing its own themed street experience with Mel’s Die-In: Zombies.

Located on the pavilion outside of the infamous diner, it’s unclear what this street experience will entail; Universal Orlando Resort has told guests to keep an eye out for more information regarding its new street shows, which also includes the brand-new Club Horror experience coming to the streets of Universal Studios Florida for their premier Halloween event.

While it’s also not explicitly clear what Club Horror will entail, or where the street experience will be taking place, it will undoubtedly be a vibrant party atmosphere much like fan favorite scarezones of old, like Vamp 85 and Vamp 69, both of which garnered huge fan bases praising the zones for their use of music and atmosphere combined with the horror elements of bloodthirsty vampires to create a unique experience that had guests dancing through the streets.

Theme Park Shark will report back with any new information Universal Orlando Resort offers on these street experiences in the run-up to the event. Check back soon, as Theme Park Shark will continue to report on all the details released on this year’s Halloween Horror Nights event, including food, merch, scarezones, and house rankings. In the meantime, check out Theme Park Shark on your favorite social media platform, like Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and expect to see plenty of scares this season, as well as theme park news from Disney, Universal, and theme parks from all across the world!

Her inner child, however, still has a deep love for fairies, dragons, magic, and adventure.
