runDisney has revealed the theme for the 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, and Donald Duck is taking center stage. A teaser video posted on the official runDisney Instagram account dropped some not-so-subtle hints about the feathered star of next year’s event.
Donald Takes Over Marathon Weekend
The teaser video features white feathers and silhouettes of an angry Donald Duck, with text reading, “One of our fine feathered friends thinks race weekend is all about him.” The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend 2027 logo at the end of the video is decked out in Donald’s signature color scheme of blue, yellow, and white, with his sailor hat perched above the “R” and his bowtie on the “O.”
The caption reads, “A runDisney anniversary plus an attention seeking duck. Guess the theme of our 2027 marathon weekend and comment below!”
30th Anniversary of the Half Marathon
The Donald Duck theming is a fitting choice. 2027 marks the 30th anniversary of the Half Marathon, which was at one point called the Donald Half Marathon. The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend typically features Mickey Mouse and friends, with each year bringing a fresh twist. The 2026 marathon weekend was themed around literature, with Mickey and the gang starring in different story genres.
When Is Marathon Weekend 2027?
The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend 2027 is scheduled for January 6 through 10, 2027. The weekend typically includes a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon, along with the Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge and the Dopey Challenge for runners tackling multiple races.
Registration details and more specifics about race medals and character theming for individual events have not been announced yet.
