Walt Disney Imagineering has released a new episode of its “We Call It Imagineering” video series, this time taking viewers behind the scenes of the Disney Adventure cruise ship. The episode, titled “Set Sail!,” went live on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel on March 10, 2026.
The new episode follows Imagineers and Disney Live Entertainment as they put the finishing touches on entertainment offerings, immersive spaces, and other experiences aboard the Disney Adventure — the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
A New Kind of Project for Imagineers
The Disney Adventure marks a first for Walt Disney Imagineering: for the first time, the team worked to fit iconic Disney stories into an existing ship and bring that ship to a brand-new market. The ship is home-ported in Singapore, and the project team spent months researching the local market to ensure the stories and experiences would resonate with guests in the region.
Imagineers describe the Disney Adventure as the first “castle at sea,” bringing theme park-level storytelling and Disney magic to audiences experiencing the Disney Cruise Line for the first time in Singapore.
The Disney Cruise Line’s history traces back to the 1990s, when Disney Legend and former Imagineer Wing Chao was tasked with designing cruise ships that were classic, modern, and distinctly Disney. That legacy informs every ship in the fleet, including the Disney Adventure.
Technical Innovations on the Disney Adventure
The Disney Adventure is described as the most innovative ship ever to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Highlights aboard include:
- Marvel’s first rollercoaster at sea — a theme park-level attraction built aboard a cruise ship
- Multimedia dining — immersive dining experiences that blend food with storytelling
- World-class stage shows — full-scale live entertainment productions
- Immersive themed environments — groundbreaking design and pioneering technology throughout
The ship has already arrived at its home port in Singapore ahead of its debut with guests.
Disney Cruise Line Expanding to 13 Ships by 2031
The episode also highlights the broader growth of Disney Cruise Line. The fleet is set to grow to 13 ships by 2031, with five new ships in all stages of development. The “Set Sail!” episode shows how Imagineers are working to redefine what is possible on the water as the fleet continues to grow.
Disney Cruise Line previously revealed entertainment details for the Disney Adventure, including a WALL-E themed show.
About the “We Call It Imagineering” Series
The “We Call It Imagineering” series is inspired by Walt Disney’s original behind-the-scenes specials that introduced Disneyland to audiences. The series offers an inside look at how Imagineers design and innovate new lands, attractions, and entertainment experiences for future generations, blending imagination with world-class engineering.
With the Disney Adventure episode, the series has now released seven episodes. Previous topics include Audio-Animatronics figures, Disney soundscapes, ride systems (Stories in Motion), Disney Live Entertainment (On with the Show!), Disney castles, and the Haunted Mansion. The November 2025 Research and Development episode went inside Walt Disney Imagineering R&D, revealing innovations like Olaf — the first Walt Disney Animation Studios character brought to life through entertainment robotics — and an AI tool called J.A.R.V.I.S. trained on Imagineering research and documentation.
As of February 2026, the full series is also available to stream on Disney+. New episodes continue to debut on YouTube first and are added to Disney+ at a later date. All current episodes remain free to watch on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel.
