This is a live article. Updates will be added as we continue through the park.
Today is MAR10 Day, and Universal Studios Hollywood is going all in for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. We headed to the park to check out everything new, and there is a lot to see.
CityWalk: Movie Marketing and a New Photo Op
Before even stepping inside the park, CityWalk Hollywood is already setting the tone. Universal Cinema is fully wrapped in Super Mario Galaxy Movie marketing, and a new galactic photo op is being built right outside the theater. This is the tunnel-style experience where fans can pose in a setting straight from the movie. It was still being set up when we arrived, but the setup alone was drawing attention.

Merchandise: CityWalk and Inside the Park
One thing that stood out is that Universal made sure to include the full Super Mario Galaxy merchandise lineup on CityWalk, not just inside the park. The Universal Studio Store exterior is completely themed for the movie, and the moment you walk in, there is a dedicated Luma Shoulder Pal display to the left.

The Luma Shoulder Pals come in blue and yellow. They are park exclusive interactive shoulder accessories that light up, make sounds, and actually communicate with each other when they are close together. They had their own display right at the entrance.

The Animation Studio Store also has a full Super Mario Galaxy section with action figures for Mario, Rosalina, Yoshi, and Bowser, plus the Gateway Galaxy playset. The theming carries through the entire store.

Galaxy Popcorn at the Power Up Cafe
On the Upper Lot, the Power Up Cafe is serving the Galaxy Popcorn. It is a multicolored berry-flavored popcorn with edible glitter, priced at $9.99. The honest review: it tastes like Trix cereal. It is a fun, colorful snack that fits the whole Galaxy theme, and the Luma container it comes in makes it even better.

Super Nintendo World: Yoshi Meet and Greet
Down on the Lower Lot, Super Nintendo World has a giant star-shaped Super Mario Galaxy Movie photo op set up right at the entrance to the land. It is impossible to miss walking in.

The Yoshi meet and greet is drawing a big crowd. Yoshi is back at Universal Studios Hollywood, and the line was already packed when we arrived. Fans in Mario hats and Shrek jerseys were lined up past the Toadstool Cafe.

And then Yoshi showed up. The character is actually meeting guests outside of the land itself, right in front of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie star backdrop and the Super Nintendo World sign. The photo op looks great, and it is a really cool way to finally meet Yoshi at Universal Studios Hollywood. The line was long, but the energy was worth it.

Dustin Meets Yoshi
Of course I had to get my own photo with Yoshi, and yes, I wore the shirt to match. This setup is one of the better character photo ops Universal has done for Super Nintendo World, with Yoshi meeting guests in front of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie star backdrop.

Final Thoughts
Universal and Nintendo are keeping Super Nintendo World fresh, and MAR10 Day is a great example of how. Tying in limited-time food, exclusive merchandise, a Yoshi meet and greet, and themed photo ops that connect directly to what Nintendo is currently doing as a company is a smart move. It keeps the land feeling dynamic instead of static, and it gives guests a reason to come back.
Hopefully this is just the beginning. The more Universal and Nintendo can align the park experience with what is happening in the broader Nintendo world, whether that is new movies, new games, or new characters, the better Super Nintendo World is going to get. The MAR10 Day celebration at Universal Studios Hollywood runs daily through Monday, April 13, 2026, ahead of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hitting theaters on Tuesday, April 1.
