Good news for Walt Disney World guests — the Disney Skyliner is back up and running! After closing on January 25, 2026, for its annual refurbishment, the popular gondola transportation system officially reopened on February 1, 2026, right on schedule.

What Happened During the Closure

Each year, Disney shuts down the Skyliner for approximately six days to perform routine maintenance on the system. This includes inspecting the gondola cabins, cables, towers, and station mechanisms to ensure everything continues to operate safely and smoothly for the millions of guests who ride it annually.

This year’s refurbishment was strictly routine — no major upgrades or changes were announced. It’s simply part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to keeping its transportation network in top shape.

Which Resorts Were Affected

The Skyliner closure impacted guests staying at four Walt Disney World resorts:

  • Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (the Skyliner hub station)
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • Disney’s Pop Century Resort
  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort

During the closure, guests at these resorts relied on alternate bus transportation provided by Disney, Minnie Van ride services, or their own vehicles to reach the parks. While the buses ran smoothly, anyone who’s experienced the Skyliner knows it’s tough to beat the convenience — and the views — of gliding above Walt Disney World.

Why the Skyliner Matters

Since its debut in 2019, the Disney Skyliner has become one of the most beloved transportation options at Walt Disney World. It connects the four resorts listed above directly to EPCOT (via the International Gateway entrance) and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, making it an incredibly convenient option for park-hopping without dealing with buses or parking.

For anyone planning a February 2026 trip to Walt Disney World, the good news is the Skyliner is fully operational and ready to go. You won’t need to worry about any transportation disruptions for your visit.

Looking Ahead

The next annual Skyliner refurbishment is expected to take place in January 2027, following the same pattern Disney has maintained since the system opened. So if you’re booking a trip anytime in the next 11 months, you’re in the clear!
