Disneyland Resort cast members recently gathered backstage to take part in a time-honored Disney tradition: signing a steel beam that will become part of a new attraction. This time, the beam is destined for the expanded Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure.
Disneyland President Thomas Mazloum shared photos of the ceremony on Instagram, showing cast members leaving their signatures on the beam in what he described as a proud moment for the team.
“Excited to join our Disneyland Cast Members backstage to sign a steel beam that soon will become part of the expanded Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park,” Mazloum wrote. “Cast Members left their mark on a project that will double the size of the land and bring more adventures to life. But what stood out most was the excitement and pride everyone brought to something that represents our future.”
What Is Coming to Avengers Campus
The expansion will double the size of the current Avengers Campus footprint and includes two new attractions: Stark Flight Lab and Avengers Infinity Defense. Ground was broken on the project in early 2025, and construction has been progressing steadily with a tall crane now visible from across Disney California Adventure.
Steel beam signings are a longstanding tradition at Disney Parks. Cast members are invited to leave their mark on the structural steel of new attractions before it is installed, permanently becoming part of the building. A similar ceremony recently took place at Walt Disney World, where cast members signed a beam for the upcoming Encanto attraction in Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom.
The current Avengers Campus opened in 2021 and features WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, and regular appearances by Marvel characters including Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Dora Milaje. The expansion will add to that lineup with two entirely new ride experiences.
Disney has not announced an official opening date for the expanded Avengers Campus. Additional details are expected to be shared in the coming months.
