Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition

Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition opens February 14, 2026, at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia and runs through September 7, 2026. The exhibition was developed in partnership between The Franklin Institute and Universal Destinations & Experiences.

The exhibition spans 18,000 square feet and features eight themed galleries, 25 interactive experiences, and more than 100 original artifacts from fan-favorite attractions including Jurassic World, DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, and Universal Monsters.

What to Expect

Guests will get an inside look at the storytelling, innovation, and world-building behind Universal’s theme parks, from The World Famous Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood to the recently opened Universal Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort.

The exhibition covers the full range of theme park creation: animatronics, robotics, ride design, costuming, and special effects. Interactive experiences let guests build roller coasters, design monster masks, and program animated figures using real theme park tools and technology.

Exhibition highlights include:

Fully immersive experiences that put guests inside Universal’s greatest attractions
Real ride vehicles, props, and artifacts from fan-favorite rides
Character costumes from Universal’s live shows, including Toothless, Po, and Gingy
Hands-on creative stations using actual theme park design tools
Themed photo opportunities with real props and environments

Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition is located in the Nicholas and Athena Karabots Pavilion and the Mandell Center at The Franklin Institute. Comcast NBCUniversal is the local presenting sponsor. Early access ticket sign-ups are available now at fi.edu.

The exhibition coincides with Philadelphia’s 2026 semi-quincentennial celebrations, marking 250 years since the founding of the United States.
